To reach the citadel of Machu Picchu, we find one of the best trekking routes, the Inca Trail, which is considered one of the best in Latin America.
A route made of stone that takes us to the top of the Andes at 4200 masl and that makes us descend until we find an extensive vegetation in the jungle edge, by the passage of this route we will find different archaeological centers, Inca walls, ice mountains , and an extensive flora and fauna. All this landscape combination make the Inca Trail unique and therefore the most requested trekking route in Peru.
Seeing the high demand of visitors to this Route, the Government chooses to take measures to avoid the impact that indiscriminate visits and possible erosions may affect the Historic Sanctuary, for this reason it is decided to limit the number of entrants for that route.
Thus it was established that the number of people admitted per day to the Inca Trail is 500 spaces. In addition, to carry out this route, the services of an Tour Operator Travel Agency duly accredited as Peruvian Highland Trek must be provided. However, only 200 are hikers and the rest are support personnel and tourist guides.
For this reason reservations are made 6 to 10 months in advance for the High Season (April – September) and 3-5 months in advance for the low season.
By 2019 many tourists are already planning their trip and are making their reservations, and it is estimated that the tourist influx will be greater than 2018. Live the best Andean experience and make your reservations here.
