Sacred Valley ATV tour takes you to Salt mines of Maras and Agricultural terraces of Moray. Both are an important part of the Sacred Valley of Incas and have played an important role during the Inca civilization.
Salinas de Maras or Maras Salt Flats are salt pools which have been existing since pre Inca times. It has been passed down in the line of succession. Locals here continue to practise the traditional Solar Evaporation salt farming method just as their ancestors.
They let in the natural spring water to these salt puddles and wait for it to evaporate. When it evaporates they manually scrape out the salt. Salt of Maras has a distinct flavour and is nutritive.
Sacred Valley Ruins of Moray are a peculiar archaeological site in the valley. The agricultural terraces of Moray are holes dug into the ground with different layers. Each of these layers has different temperatures. This helped the Incas to determine the best weather condition required to grow any crop.

Itinerary
Sacred Valley ATV Tour – Sacred Valley Ruins
This great experience begins with a hotel pickup. We offer free transfer to our guests who are staying at hotels within the historical center of Cusco. If you are not staying within the historical centre, we will be picking you up from our meeting point.
We will then be driving you to Cruz Pata. This is the point where the experience begins. Here we will be handing over the Quad Bikes and our guide will be giving you instructions on riding it and will be sharing some safety tips.
Once you feel confident, we will start cruising down to Maras Salt Mines. This is a popular tourist destination in Sacred Valley. Here our guide will be explaining the salt farming process. You will also discover more about the life of local people.
We will then continue this Sacred Valley ATV tour to Moray farming terraces. These terraces were more like an agricultural laboratory to Incas. Here, our guide will be sharing the traditional farming methods and how it has positively impacted life today.
After visiting these two sites, we will be riding back to Cruz Pata. Here we will be handing over the Quad Bikes and will meet our driver for our journey back to Cusco. We will be dropping you off at your hotel in Cusco within the historic centre.
