Manu Reserve Peru – Parque Manu Peru Tour

DAY 1: CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST – PILCOPATA :

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you to Paucartambo. On our way, we will be visiting the funeral towers or Chullpas of Ninamarca.

We will then descend through the mysterious lowland tropical region. Here we will be stopping to see Cock of the Rocks (Rupicola Peruvian). There are also possibilities to spot the Amazonian Umbrella bird (Cephalopterus Ornatus), Trogons (Trogon sp.) and more.

And with luck the only South American bear, the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon we will be arriving at Pilcopata lodge. We will be accommodating you here in an ensuite room.

DAY 2: PILCOPATA – PAITITI LODGE :

After a delicious breakfast, we will hike for an hour and a half to see some coca plantations. Here you will be able to spot some wildlife like giant otters or river otters and black caimans. 

In the afternoon, we will be reaching Atalaya boat pier. From here we will be travelling by motor boat for 30 minutes by Alto Madre de Dios River to our typical lodge.

In the afternoon, we will be giving you a guided tour of the Jungle. Later at night, after dinner, we will be doing a short night tour to spot some nocturnal animals and creatures.

DAY 3: PAITITI LODGE – PARROTS CLAY LICK – MACHUHUASI LAKE :

Early in the morning, we will be travelling by boat to see the Blanquillo Macaws Clay Lick. This is an unmissable part of the trip. Different coloured parrots and macaws fly to eat the clay.

Clay here contains minerals that help these birds to flush out toxins from their body.

After the experience, we will be returning to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, we will go to Machuwasi lake. Here we will be taking the typical balsa rafts for two hours.

On this part of the trip, you will be able to see different species of birds like the hoatzin. After lunch, we will give you a guided tour of the jungle so you can witness more flora and fauna.

DAY 4: PAITITI LODGE – HOT SPRING – PAITITI :

After breakfast we will take the boat to go along the river alto Madre de Dios. Here We will see many kind birds on the banks of the river. We will visit Native Community Shintuya. Here we will give you a tour of the community. 

Later we will go by boat and arrive at Aguas Calientes hot spring (curative waters). Here you can take a rejuvenating dip in the thermal water. In the afternoon we will return to Paititi Lodge. At night we will have a short tour.

DAY 5: PAITITI LODGE – ATALAYA – CUSCO :

After a typical Amazonian breakfast, we will embark on a boat ride back to Atalaya boat pier. Here we will be boarding our transport for the journey back to Cusco City.

WHAT DO WE ADVISE TO BRING

• Shirt long sleeve and long pants.
• warm cloths (for misty mornings on the river).
• Water bottle or Canteen.
• Sandals, bath suit clothes, towel day pack.
• Rain gear.
• Enough mosquito repellent (50% DEET C.).
• Sun block.
• After bite.
• Flash light or torch with extra batteries.
• Plastic bags.
• Hat or cap.
• Extra money to buy beverage.
• At least one pair of trekking boot  Camera and extra films(as a 100 is good for lakes and river, but inside the forest you will need as a 400).
