Machu Picchu Sunrise Tour – 2 Days
Machu Picchu Sunrise Tour is one of our signature tours. We have designed this exclusive two day tour from Cusco to offer you the best on your Machu Picchu Tour.
This tour is more or less similar to the regular two day Machu Picchu Tour. The only difference is that you get to enter the citadel of Machu Picchu at day break so you can see the sunrise at Machu Picchu.
Accompanied by a local English speaking tour guide, you will discover some of the prominent landmarks in the Machu Picchu citadel.
Peruvian Highland Trek is an authorised local tour operator based in Cusco. We have an excellent team of guides and helpers who have years of experience in trekking and mountaineering. They are certified tourism professionals with an in-depth knowledge of history, Inca ruins, culture and traditions.
Best Time to Visit Machu Picchu:
Machu Picchu nestles amidst the Peruvian Andes. It is subject to two seasons – Wet Season and Dry Season. We recommend you to travel in the dry season – between March and November. During the rainy season, the citadel often gets covered in clouds and the trails get wet and slippery.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
Machu Picchu Sunrise Tour starts early in the morning as we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. We will then embark on a drive through the Sacred Valley of Incas to Ollantaytambo train station. Here we will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes town (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
Once at the town of Aguas Calientes, our representative will be meeting you at the train station and will be transferring you to the hotel in Aguas Calientes.
You will have the evening free. You can make the most of it by visiting the hot springs after which the town is named. Later that evening, our guide will be meeting you at the lobby of the hotel and will be briefing you on the following day’s itinerary.
Day 2 – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early in the morning, as you will be leaving the hotel for the tour, the receptionist will be handing you over a snack box. You will then be taking the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. It is a 25 minutes drive up the hill.
Once at the entrance of the citadel, your guide will be assisting you in clearing the security control and to enter the citadel. As you enter, you will see the blankets of clouds clearing by as the golden rays of sun would light the Inca citadel.
We will then give you a detailed two hours guided tour of Machu Picchu citadel.
After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own. Alternatively, if you have booked in advance, you can hike the Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu mountains.
Optionally, you can even hike to the Sungate or Intipunku. You won’t need to book it in advance. This offers a spectacular view of the citadel. Only those on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu enjoy the view at the first light of the sun.
After the tour, you will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes town. Here you will have some free time to stop for lunch (not included).
We will then take the train back to Ollantaytambo from Aguas Calientes. Here, our representative will be meeting you and will be driving you back to the city of Cusco. You will be reaching Cusco by 09:00 PM.
