Our full day Palccoyo Cusco Rainbow Mountain Tour is more than the Rainbow Mountain itself. It takes you to a remote town called Checacupe, home to a colonial bridge that resembles Qeswachaka. This bridge however was built during the colonial era by Spaniard replicating the traditional Inca bridge.
We will be passing through different remote communities. You will also have an opportunity to get an insight to the life and culture of the Andean people living in this remote region.
The highest point of Palccoyo Cusco Peru Rainbow Mountain Tour is at 5200 metres above sea level. It is however important that you spend at least 3 days in Cusco before this high altitude experience to avoid altitude sickness.

Itinerary
Day 1: Palccoyo Cusco Peru Rainbow Mountain Tour
- 05:00 AM: Pickup from your hotel in Cusco and depart by private transport towards the Southern Valley of Cusco.
- Checacupe: Stop in the colonial village of Checacupe, the last place to stock up on water and snacks before continuing. Here, you can explore a colonial church and a hanging bridge.
- Ascend to Palccoyo: Continue the journey to the starting point of the hike to Rainbow Mountain. The trail is gradual and easy, passing through a stunning stone forest.
- Summit of Rainbow Mountain: At the summit, 5,200 meters above sea level, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Ausangate peak, the highest and most sacred mountain in the region.
- Free Time at the Summit: Take your time to enjoy the views and take photos.
- Return: Hike back to the starting point, followed by lunch in Checacupe.
- Return to Cusco: Arrive back in Cusco around 6:00 PM, end of the tour.
