Bolivia Uyuni Tour – Uyuni Salt Flats Tour
The Uyuni Salt Flats tour is one of the most preferred tours in South America after Machu Picchu. We have designed this Bolivia Uyuni Tour to show you the best of the gem of Bolivia.
Salar de Uyuni as it is locally known as are the largest salt flats in the world. It is spread in 10,000 square kilometres (3,900 sq mi) in area. It is home to plenty of distinct flora and fauna.
On this three day trip, accompanied by a local tour guide you will be visiting the best of Uyuni Salt Flats. It starts with a visit to the Train Cemetery and takes you right to the middle of the salt flats. You will then be visiting colorful lagoons and rock formations.
What’s more? You will be spending a night in a salt hotel. The trip culminates with a visit to the hot springs near the Chilean border. If you are not planning on returning to Uyuni, you can opt for a transfer to San Pedro de Atacama Chile.
Please note that this is a high altitude experience. We highly recommend you to acclimatise well before the Salar de Uyuni Tour to avoid altitude sickness.
We offer this experience in small groups and as a private tour.

As the name suggests, the place is home to abandoned trains. Bolivia planned a massive rail project for exporting minerals to Chile. However, due to many constraints this project was never realised.
The trains were left abandoned here. Now these locomotives covered in graffitis are a popular tourist sight.
The population of Colchani:
Located on the banks of the great Salar, is the main entrance to the salt desert. Here you will get to see the traditional way of processing salts.
The villagers will teach us the process of drying, grinding and bagging ready for consumption.
Hotel de Sal:
Located in the heart of Salar, this is an unmissable sight. The first salt hotel, also known as Playa Blanca, is built entirely of salt blocks.
Isla Incahuasi (Isla del Pescado):
Located in the middle of the salt desert, the Incahuasi Island known as “The Fish Island” is populated by numerous giant cacti with heights over 10 meters.
From the top you can contemplate the wonderful Landscape of the Salar, later on our visit to the island we will have lunch here.
We will then continue to the Population of San Juan. Here we will be accommodating you in a local family house.

The route also offers beautiful views of the lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda. These lagoons are populated by Andean flamingos.
At noon we will be stopping for lunch. After lunch, we will be driving through the Siloli desert. This is home to some of the interesting rock formations. One of the most photographed is the Stone Tree.

The green color is due to the high magnesium content of the geological formations of the area.
After our visit to the lagoons we will return to Uyuni. On the way we will make a stop to have lunch.
