Waqrapukara Acomayo Cusco – Waqrapukara Peru
Waqrapukara Acomayo Cusco popularly known as Waqrapukara Peru is a newly discovered archaeological site in the South of Cusco. This full day tour from Cusco is perfect for travellers looking to explore something off the tourist track.
Located at 4300 metres above sea level, this horn fortress gets its name after its formation. In Quechua, the native language, Waqra means horn and Pukara means fortress. The complex features eight agricultural terraces and stairways made entirely of stones.
Our full day Waqrapukara Trek experience begins with a three hour drive from Cusco City to an Andean village called Wayki. From here, it is a beautiful hike to reach the Inca Fortress.
During the trek you will get a panoramic view of the Apurimac River snaking through the Apurimac Canyon. You will also get to see the well preserved cave paintings before reaching the complex.
We have dedicated local tour guides for the tour. They have an extensive knowledge about the Inca civilization and will share some insights while giving you a guided tour of the complex.
This is a high altitude experience. We highly recommend you to spend atleast 3 days in Cusco before the full day trek to avoid altitude sickness.
