Apu Ausangate Trek 5 Days

Apu Ausangate Trek is one of the prettiest treks in Cusco. This high altitude experience takes you around the foothills of the mighty Ausangate mountain. The snow capped peak of Ausangate mountain is locally referred to as Apus. It is sacred to the Andean people.

Ausangate is the highest peak in Southern Peru. It dominates the southern skyline of Cusco City on a clear day. The renowned Rainbow Mountain of Cusco is closer to Apu Ausangate Mountain.

This is a high altitude experience with the highest point of the trek at 5200 metres above sea level. The trek also involves hiking to many high passes. We highly recommend you to spend at least 3 days in Cusco before the trek to avoid altitude sickness.

The best time to do the Ausangate Trek is in the dry season – between March and November. You will have a clearer view of the landscape.
