CHINCHERO’S LADIES

Famous Chinchero, the village is a small town, popular for its extence area in agriculture, andean activities and tradicional festivities. From this town we can spot the high ice mountains that round the sacred Valley.

Commun Activities in Chinchero

Community Tours:  Since we entered to the town of Chinchero, we are surprised with the peculiarity of women, as they show a hairstyle of several braids hanging on their shoulders. It is said that  among more of this hairstyle the Chinchero’s Ladies have, were considered virgins.

Mothers usually carry their babies on their backs, held in a typical blanket that holds the baby’s body. In this way they are aware of their children.

Andean Style of Chinchero

In this place these typical blankets as well as their colorful attire are elaborated by themselves (handmade) and all of course, from dyeing to embroidery,  and desinging all the styles.

Craft of Chinchero

In addition, the women of this  town , as well as throughout the Sacred Valley are engaged in agricultural work, after bringing typical food from the area to the farms, are layers of seeds for a good harvest in agriculture. However, in times when there is no sowing, they spin wool from the sheep while their animals graze.

The days of the fair are Sundays, here the ladies of Chinchero make market for their week, but their purchases are made with the barter system, where they exchange Andean products with products from other areas without using money.
